Monster Baby

So if anyone has any suggestions on how to keep a 2.5 year old in his bed, will you let me know? I have used up all the ingenuity that I can muster, and need ideas!

My 4 year old learned this from his father: duct tape fixes everything! Why not?

Still going through this myself. Once he falls asleep he is fine, but it's getting him to sleep that's the problem. We will usually sit outside his door so he can still see us, but with the door part-way shut. That works most of the time. Good luck!!!

I have the same problem with a little girl. Some nights are great others not so much. I think I am part of the problem because when Spencer was gone I just took her to bed with me.

Cameron was the same way. What I did was sit beside his bed until he fell asleep. Then gradually sit further away fron his bed until you sit outside of the door. It takes a while but it worked. Also I wanted to thank you for bringing us supper and for the beautiful blanket. I didn't even see it when you came over. I love it. You are so talented. Thanks!

He doesn't sleep in his bed with you either, I thought it was just me!

Troy's got some blue webbing if you'd like to tie him to the bed. Or there's the classic dog kennel. Have you tried children's Nyquil?

Of course I'm teasing. I don't have any good advise. I only know that my mother would lay down with us until we fell asleep. Once she fell asleep before we did so we got up and played. She wasn't too happy about that. Good Luck! Have you Googled it?

I know I'm late but I have to post.
Ok The worst is to let him sleep with you. My brother is 10 and is STILL sleeping with my parents.
We are working on it..

One way is to make a chart. And give him "stars" or any sticker he likes. Say if he sleeps in his bed for so many days or gets so many stickers he will receive an award. Some thinks its bad. But do something that will involve the whole family. Like go out for Ice cream or to the Park. The stickers will serve as an everyday treat but he knows he will have to work hard to get the "big" treat! The first time will be hard because he might not believe you. After awhile he will get used to it and forget all together.

Another way is to play soft music in the background. Not songs that he can sing to. Either sounds of the ocean or jungle. One that really works is piano music. That can put anyone to sleep.

Would love to hear what worked!!

Amanda! I was going through my email and came across your email with your blog address and just had the most fun reading through all you've been up to! Congrats on number 3! And on a wedding anniversary! And on Sam's 6th - is that right??? Man I feel old! :) And the camping trip...oh, sounds much like our experience "family" camping. We made a rule that if you can't walk, you can't go! Hee, hee! Ok, just wanted to give you a shout out and tell you I'm adding you to my list of blogs to faithfully read. I wish I'd been doing that all along! :)
